Studio Ghibli, a Japanese animation studio, has announced a collaboration with Lucasfilm via its social media accounts. The brief teaser published revealed only the logos of the two parties, with no further information on the project now in progress.

What will this collaboration be?

Studio Ghibli was founded in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki and, over time, has made history in animated films and beyond. Films include such absolute masterpieces as My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away, for which Miyazaki received the Academy Award for Best Animated Film in 2002.

The collaboration in question could feature Star Wars, perhaps with an actual film in the studio's typical style. This news is a real surprise for fans of both the animation studio and Star Wars but has been well received.

In case you missed it: This Stray Game boy demake is the cutest thing you will see today.

Star Wars is currently developing a new video game, Eclipse, set during the High Republic era. ''An intricately branching action-adventure game that can be experienced in many ways, and puts the destinies of multiple playable characters in your hands, created in collaboration between Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games.''
