Red Dead Redemption 2 Celebrates 5 Years and has Never Been More Popular on PC

Rockstar's cowboy title has just experienced a revival and is enjoying one of its best moments.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the cornerstones of Take-Two Interactive. Despite being a game of half a decade old, it has never had so many concurrent players on PC.

That's right, Red Dead Redemption 2 has never had as many active players as it does now on Steam. As of the last hours of Monday, November 27th, the game had 39,028 users playing it, a frankly surprising number.

But the title reached its all-time high of concurrent players on the Valve platform on Sunday, November 26th, in the early morning, when 77,655 users were playing the game at the same time, Rockstar Games' 2018 title.

To put it in context, it's worth noting that Red Dead Redemption 2 debuted on PC on November 5, 2019, almost 1 year after its original console release, and it garnered around 50,000 concurrent users just on Steam. At the beginning of 2023, the title managed to rise again by surpassing 70,000 concurrent users, and these days it is enjoying its new all-time high, according to SteamDB statistics.

Why is Red Dead Redemption 2 more popular than ever?

It's important to mention that this revitalization was thanks to an irresistible discount and not the addition of new content that fans have been requesting for many years. Take-Two Interactive decided to lower its price with a 67% discount offer, so players can get it as cheap as $428.67 MXN on Steam (the offer ends at noon on November 28).

According to Take-Two Interactive's latest sales report, the Old West title has sold more than 57 million units since its release, so it's remarkable that it continues to sell large quantities of units, bringing in more players than at its launch today, a little over 5 years after its PC debut.
