Dragon Age: The Veilguard had a very successful launch, with thousands of players enjoying BioWare's new adventure. It has also been well-received by critics, with many considering it the triumphant return of Electronic Arts' studio.
Despite this, a portion of the community has been vocal and critical of Dragon Age: The Veilguard on social media and forums. Detractors are unhappy with certain content, such as the design of some characters and the character creator, which allows players to create inclusive and diverse avatars.
Now, this segment of the community has turned to Metacritic to engage in review bombing of BioWare’s game. In their reviews, they continue to accuse the game of being “woke” and supposedly ruining the series because of it.
Players Bombard Dragon Age: The Veilguard with Negative Reviews
Critics agree that Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an excellent RPG and that BioWare did a great job continuing the popular franchise. However, the game’s detractors strongly disagree, as reflected in the wave of negative reviews it received on Metacritic.
At the time of writing, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has a 2.2 user rating. This is due to a review bombing campaign with scores of 1 or even 0, with many reviews criticizing the game's inclusive and diverse elements.
“Another franchise hijacked by this mediocre ideology; pathetic. RIP Dragon Age,” commented one user who rated it a 0. Other users criticized the game’s mechanics, story, and dialogue as a pretext to give it a low rating.
“This game is complete garbage! It has the graphics and gameplay of a mobile title! Extremely boring! Poor optimization, frequent crashes, and frame drops,” wrote another user, clearly exaggerating.
“This isn’t a game. It’s an HR training on diversity, equity, and inclusion with interactivity,” remarked another detractor of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
As of this writing, the title has 72,934 active players on Steam. It’s also known to be one of the most successful single-player games by Electronic Arts and, of course, one of the most well-received installments in the series by fans.
